Media Release - Health Alert on Salad Sprouts

Dear Customers,

Over the last week media alerts and food recalls have been issued by DHS and F.S.A.N.Z .

On the 13th of January we discovered a high E.coli count in the product “Mung Sprouts” 200g clam pack, grown and packed by Gippsland SproutCo under the Flowerdale Farm label, Use By Date 15- 17/01/2012. As an extra precaution, we made the decision to immediately withdraw all products grown and packed by Gippsland SproutCo containing Mung Sprouts. This included: Mung Sprouts 200g clam pack, Alfalfa Salad Sprouts 120g clam pack, and Crunchy Combo Sprouts 200g clam pack. A further recall notice has since been issued by Gippsland SproutCo. The product affected was “Alfalfa Salad Sprouts” 120g clam pack, grown and packed by Gippsland SproutCo and labeled under the Flowerdale Farm Brand, Use By Date 23/01/2012. As we had already withdrawn all products containing Mung Sprouts from sale, there are only a small number of punnets unaccounted for.

Flowerdale Farm P/L  takes food safety very seriously. We have an SQF2000 rating for our wholesale market stand, and regularly test all the products we sell.
